An agreement was signed between SMIIC and the Russian Islamic Institute

On May 15, as part of the 17th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2026,” a ceremonial signing of a cooperation agreement on joint educational events was held between SMIIC (Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries) and the Russian Islamic Institute.

SMIIC is an international organization that develops uniform halal standards in the Islamic world. It operates under the auspices of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). It comprises 57 Islamic countries, of which Russia is also a member, but with observer status.
The Russian Islamic Institute is a higher education institution in Kazan dedicated to Islamic education, research, and the training of specialists in theology and Islamic law.

The main points of the memorandum and the purpose of cooperation are:

Development of education and professional training for specialists in the halal industry, including standardization, certification, production of halal products, and provision of halal services.

The Russian Islamic Institute is appointed as the official representative of SMIIC for the organization and delivery of educational programs and training based on SMIIC standards.

The parties agreed to develop joint educational programs, conduct seminars, courses, and trainings, prepare methodological materials, and exchange information and experience.
